The Bible teaches that in the eyes of God, no one is good.
Romans 3:10: “As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one.”
Romans 3:23 – “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
We are all sinners — we have broken God’s laws. Any goodness we have is tainted by our sin.
We are sinners from birth.
Romans 5:12: “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Adam and Eve — the first two people that God created, chose to disobey God. It was Adam’s first sin that caused us all to be born with a sin nature. Every single person has been born with a nature contrary to God’s holiness.
There are consequences for our sin.
Romans 6:23a: “For the wages of sin is death;”
Revelation 20:14 “And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.”
Our sin nature separates us from God. If we die in our sin, we will spend eternity paying for our own sins in Hell.
Jesus Christ died and rose again to pay for and forgive our sin.
Romans 5:8 – “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 6:23b: “… but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
Jesus Christ — God the Son, died to forgive our sin. He offers eternal life as a gift to us — we simply must trust Him in faith and receive Him as Saviour.
To receive God’s gift of eternal life, you must trust Jesus Christ by faith.
Romans 10:9-10: “That is thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”
Romans 10:13 – “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
